NOTICE AND COMPETITION RULES

The Mountain Community of Valle Camonica, the Union of Municipalities of Val Savio- re, the Municipality of Cevo, Pro Loco Valsaviore, Promo Cevo, and the Association “El Teler” of Berzo Demo, announce the 2^nd International Accordion Competition in Valcamonica.
The competition is open to all accordionists of any gender and nationality, with the aim of promoting music culture and encouraging young musicians.
Participants can play with an acoustic accordion of any type and make.

CATEGORIES, SECTIONS AND DURATION OF PERFORMANCE

Apart from “Chamber”, each Category has two sections:

CATEGORY “CHAMBER”, CHAMBER MUSIC GROUPS WITHOUT AGE RESTRICTION

Chamber music groups must consist of at least one accordion with a lead role and other in- struments, or all accordions.

Maximum allowed group size is 12 members.

Both original pieces and interpretations are allowed in the Competition. Memory execution is not mandatory. Calls for the performers will be made in alphabetical order. Those who are not present at the time of their call may be heard at the end of the other performances, subject to the final decision of the Artistic Director. At the time of their call the performer must present two copies of the pieces being performed to the jury. By accepting the participation rules, the performer guarantees that, in case they present an original piece, the same does not violate any copyright and relieves the Organization from any liability towards third parties. The Organization may include the pieces performed during the competition into a compilation, collection of scores or digital recordings without owing to the authors anything other than the ordinary copyrights.

COMMISSION AND SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS

All applications received will be accepted.
Lack or incompleteness of the required documents or failure to comply with any of the procedures described in this notice and regulations will result in exclusion from the competition.
Auditions begin on September 21^st, 2024 at 10:00 am.
The decisions and judgments of the Judging Commission are final, indisputable and cannot be appealed.

The Judging Commission may ask the performer to execute the whole programme or only parts of it if the available time is exceeded. The Commission will draw up the final ranking for the award of the winners of all sections and categories, adopting the following assessment method:

A certificate of participation will be given to all performers attending the competition.
The Judging Commission may award additional special prizes or divide the prizes in the event of joint winners.
The highest scoring performers for each day will perform in the two evening concerts on their respective days during which the prizes will be awarded. The pieces to be executed during the concerts will be chosen by the Judging Commission among those presented. Failure to participate in the concerts will result in the withdrawal of any prize.
In case of the inability to award prizes to participants or their delegates, they shall remain with the Organisation of the contest until those entitled to the prize contact the secretariat of the competition to agree the presentation arrangements.

The concert winners of the categories (Classic, Variete) will be guests of honour at the Accordion Festival on 16-17 August, 2025.

METHOD AND REGISTRATION FEES

Applicants related to any member of the Judging Commission (up to 4^th degree, included) will not be allowed to participate in the competition.
Had applicants entertained a didactic relationship with a member of the Judging Commission over the past year, the latter will abstain from scoring them during evaluation and ranking process.
Applications must be received by the Organization no later than September 14^th, 2024.

The registration fee (including VAT) is equal to:

€ 25.00 for Cat. A;

€ 30.00 for Cat. B;

€ 35.00 for Cat. C;

€ 40.00 for all other sections/categories.

The documentation to be sent is as follows:

Duly completed and signed application (for minors the signature of the parent/legal guardian);
Photocopy of a valid identification document at the time of application (in case of minors, in addition to the performer’s document also the parent’s/legal guardian’s are required);
Receipt (or photocopy) of the payment of the registration fee.

Depending on the number of applicants, the Organisation may review the Competition’s program and schedule. In case of modifications or need to cancel the Competition due to force majeur events, the Organization will publish a notice and modify these rules within September 18^th, 2024, reimbursing already paid application fees.
The potential radio and/or television broadcasting of the performances brings no compensation right to the performers.
The Organisation reserves the right to grant to all Italian and foreign radio and television broadcasters, on behalf of the authors, depositors, interpreters and their assignees the authorization shooting and broadcasting radio and television in any form or manner and with any transmission technology existing today or of future invention (also, if necessary, a means of recording for any radio and television broadcasts deferred) of the presentation shows to the public of music and performers selected and competing.
Travel and accommodation costs are on the participants.
The Organisation makes itself available, upon participant’s request, to suggest local venues for the participant’s accommodation.
The Organisation will not assume accountability for events of any nature that may occur during the competition.
Attendance to the competition implies full acceptance of this notice and rules.
